Maybe you have heard the word "Gospel" before. It is a word that means "Good News." In other words when someone is spreading the gospel they are, in fact, spreading good news. If you read the newspaper or watch the evening news you might wonder if there is any good news in the world today. The answer is an emphatic yes.

If you are a sports fan you probably have seen someone hold up a sign with the message "John 3:16." I have talked with many who have wondered what this sign means. Possibly you have wondered as well. John 3:16 is a reference to a Bible passage which says; "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life".

God, the Creator, teaches us that we are all sinners and incapable, on our own accord, of having a relationship with him. However, God loves us and he wants us to love him in return, but sin stands in the way. Because God loved us so much He allowed His on son to become the payment for our sin.

Jesus Christ was with God the Father before the world was created. He became human and lived
among humanity as Jesus of Nazareth. He came to reveal the Father. He lived, He ministered, He
died upon a cross. On the third day after Jesus died he was raised from the dead. Since he has been raised from the dead, Jesus is the source of eternal life.

Jesus wants to be the doorway to new life for you. Because Jesus was sinless and perfect in every way his death became the atonement (payment) for the sins of the whole world. This is God's Free Gift. However, God's gift, like any other gift, must be received.

Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me"
He is waiting for you now. Here is what you must do to receive Him and become a
Christian:

Recognize His love for you. He died for you.
Admit your need for Him. Confess your need for salvation.
Express sorrow for your sin by repenting, which means turning away from sin and turning to
God.
Place your faith in Jesus and invite him into your life.
Pray a prayer of repentance and faith. If you do not know what to say to God, say
something like, "Dear Heavenly Father, I know that you love me. I confess my sin and ask
your forgiveness. I now invite Jesus into my life. In Jesus' name. Amen."

If you prayed this prayer to receive Jesus Christ as your Savior, or if you would like to talk with someone in person about this important decision, please call (615) 895-1063 or stop by the church.

May God Bless,
